I worked at the NIFCA artists' residence in Hafnarfjördur, Iceland, in September-October 2000, making a series of photographic works. They are based on monochromatic slides of the sky at different places at different times of day. The colour in the slide represents both time and place. Although the image is only a single hue, you can also see it as a landscape, a recollection of a situation. The sky is not only the object being photographed, it is also the source of light that enables the perception at large.
For the Iceland series, I projected the slides on separate boards leaning against the wall. The dimensions of the boards are those of the film frame. Several images were projected on the same board.
